New national standard on excessive express packaging officially takes effect: Starting July 1, the mandatory national standard Requirements for Limiting Excessive Express Packaging took effect, setting hard red lines such as the number of packaging layers, box material compatibility and tape width (≤45 mm). Tape exceeding the standard is still observed in current enforcement.
Beijing issues China's first local standard for green takeout packaging: On June 15, the Guidelines for the Use of Green Packaging by Food Delivery Merchants was issued, subdividing takeout packaging into two categories, simple and sealed, comprising ten types, and explicitly abandoning redundant practices such as multiple layers of cling film.
Anhui advances a special governance plan: Anhui Province issued an implementation plan for governing excessive packaging of mail and express items, setting the goal of fully curbing excessive packaging by the end of 2027 and exploring legislation to advance reduction management of commodity packaging.
Industry green results data: Data from the State Post Bureau shows that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, electronic waybills and reusable transfer bags achieved essentially full coverage, more than 800 million cartons were recovered and reused annually, and intelligent packing algorithms reduced consumables by nearly 20%.
